If you didn’t already know, Rutherford County is located in U.S. House Congressional District 6. Our Representative, Bart Gordon, cast one of the deciding votes to bring the Healthcare Reform Act out of committee and to the floor for a vote. Assuming everything goes as smoothly as hoped by supporters of the Reform Act, there will be only one more vote in the House before the Act passes to the Senate and then the President.

This next vote will be the last straw.

Therefore, our sister organization Sumner United for Responsible Government, also in the 6th District, has put together a “Last Straw Petition” for us “to let Representative Bart Gordon know that if he casts another vote in favor of government-run healthcare we will cast our votes against him.”

Because the 6th District is so large and there is so much work to do, there won’t be an organized drive to get petitions signed, however we may coördinate a petition delivery day, so be sure to click “Contact Us…” at the top of the page and let us know how many signatures you’ve collected!
